DRV Cuts Costs and Boosts Service by Unifying Communications and Collaboration
 |
DRV deploys an HP end-to-end Unified Communications and Collaboration solution with Microsoft Lync to lower costs and improve customer service. |
Objective
Link the headquarters, a disaster recovery site and all branch offices with a unified networking and telecommunications solution to enhance communications and collaboration, increase customer service levels and reduce costs.
Approach
Identify a networking solution that supports IP telephony and integrates fully with the chosen communications and collaboration tool.
End-to-End Solution
Designed, tested and implemented by Delta Group, the HP Networking solution deployed across DRV’s head office and secondary site comprises four redundantly configured HP Networking 5800 core switches and 44 HP Networking 3100El intelligent
edge switches.
The Microsoft components involve providing voice capabilities to Microsoft Lync and deploying Microsoft Exchange 2010.
“The HP/Microsoft® Unified Communications solution integrates well
with our existing infrastructure, offers better performance than the Avaya or Cisco solutions and will deliver a sound return on investment.
We estimate the payback time is between two and three years. It was the best solution.”
—Csaba Hornyák, IT manager, Transdanubian Regional Waterworks Corporation (DRV)

Updated Private Cloud Whitepaper and Calculators with WS 2012 Licensing and Pricing
Microsoft has updated the Private Cloud Economics whitepaper, Private Cloud Economics and the Server Virtualization calculators to reflect Windows Server 2012 (& ECI) pricing and licensing.

With WS 2012, Microsoft's licensing cost advantage holds (6X-15X less expensive depending on VM density) and there is no tax charge on any virtualization, memory, or density like VMware. Moreover, with Microsoft's WS 2012 Hyper-V, there is a product that VMware cannot even match.
HP VirtualSystem for Microsoft Academy in Finland
Two days of intense hands-on labs at Microsoft Academy in Finland with access to live environments conveniently scheduled in time for the Windows Server 2012 Launch on September 4th.
We had a full class with attendees from Finland and Estonia covering partners such as Logica, Tieto, G7Data, Canon, Telegrupp and Atos IT Solutions and Services. |
 |
Due to the amount of hands-on lab time, we included a technical overview of Windows
Server 2012 into the agenda on launch day. Needless to say the amount of questions and interest
was through the roof!
